VoD of the week: Team Puszek and cloud serpent Li Li

ROCCAT's draft bullied Puszek into choosing Li Li, but is this really an effective strategy?

Match starts at 1:03:20

Ever since the double ban policy has been implemented, this type of aggressive draft strategy is has started to appear in competitive heroes. We saw a similar tactic against Tempo Storm and also against COGnitive gaming: Uther Rehgar and Malfurion are either banned or picked with the intent to leave your opponent with no support other than Li Li. While nothing is truly set it stone, it is of popular opinion that Li Li is the worst of the available primary healers. She lacks CC, directly targeted burst healing, and her most powerful healing heroic, unlike Malfurion, can be interupted with a stun.

However, with the recent buffs to blind mechanics, it's questionable whether an entire draft dedicated to forcing a Li Li pick is worth it. In the highlighted match above Puszek team's support player, rzufff, chooses to talent Li Li around her Cloud Serpent. Dedicated Li Li players are familiar with the build, but to the rest of us, it appears non-intuitive.

Do we really ignore The Good Stuff? Do we really ignore Herbal Cleanse and Two For One? Puszek Team seems to think so, and the results speak for them selves. Li Li didn't carry the match (Hello, Kael'Thas) but it's easy to see the healing and residual damage power spike at level 16 when Serpent Sidekick becomes available, essentially doubling the effectiveness of your direct heals.
