Azmodan Build: 2015 Slam Dunk Champion

Azmodan is the gross looking Lord of Sin from Diablo. In Heroes he plays as a long range lane pusher who is great at securing kills and split pushing. He can be an easy hero to pick up and play but a tough one to master.

Abilities

General of Hell (Trait)

This guy is what makes you have great lane pressure early and when left alone later. Using this on your minion wave will buff all of the minions damage and and health by 15%. Remember to put this with minions in waves that are not being payed much attention to as you travel around the map. This will also buff your allies summons such as Jaina’s water elemental.

Globe Of Annihilation (Q)

This is the long range harass tool that this build will focus on. Try not to overuse it early game and put an emphasis on killing at least one or two minions per wave early. Late try to use it on the enemy team as much as possible so they have to retreat or come into a fight damaged.

Summon Demon Warrior (W)

This is a little lackluster during team fights but they do a great job at pushing waves and soaking ammo. Other then that though try not to overuse this ability as these minions will die easy.

All Shall Burn (E)

This is a great ability that gets stronger the longer it is used. The downside to it is that you have to remain stationary while channeling it until you get the March of Sin talent at 13. This is always a great tool for taking out structures when you are winning a lane or left alone as the damage is 25% stronger against structures.

Heroic Abilities

Black Pool (R)

This is my heroic ability of choice because it’s a huge increase in damage that can also affect your minions. Use it to quickly burn down buildings or harass the enemy from afar. This is also great for helping Azmodan get stacks for his Taste for Blood talent. Remember that Azmodan or minions must stand in the black pool to get its effect.

Demonic Invasion (R)

I’m not a big fan of this heroic because I feel Azmodan’s pushing power is already top tier without taking a heroic dedicated to it. The grunts that are summoned die fairly quick in team fights so I find Black Pool to be much more useful.

The Build

Level 1

Taste for Blood – This is a talent that has a big payoff if you focus on farming. Practice getting as much as you can out of taste for blood while still being there for your team. The point of farming all the stacks is late game Azmodan is able to put some serious damage on the enemy team from afar.

Level 4

Bound Minion – This will make General of Hell a pushing machine. I don’t like many of the other talent choices at this level so I typically just stick with bound minion. Burn the Weak is not a bad choice if Azmodan is going to be responsible for soloing mercenary camps.

Level 7

Infernal Globe – Infernal Globe makes Globe on Annihilation much easier to cast for farming and harassing. It also adds a nice damage over time effect but remember you only gain stacks on Taste of Blood for those killed by the impact and not the DOT.

Level 10

Black Pool – see heroic abilities section.

Level 13

March of Sin – This makes you able to move when using Burn the Weak thus making the ability much more versatile for team fights. Remember that Burn the Weak gets stronger the longer it is channeled so movement is key in securing kills during team fights. I never take anything at this level other than March of Sin.

Level 16

Imposing Presence – After the Blood for Blood nerf I think this will be the talent that I will pick the most consistently at this level. 50% is a big number that can really punish Auto Attack heroes who try to come after Azmodan. If the enemy has no auto attackers on their side then I will probably pick Battleborn for the small added affect of extra Demon Warriors.

Level 20

Fifth Circle – The slow that Fifth Circle provides is actually quite impressive. Use the slow with a well placed Globe and the enemy team will have a rough time moving about during an important team fight. Bolt of the Storm and Storm shield are also valid talent choices here depending on how the game is going and what you need.

The Strategy

Early game is all about creating lane pressure and farming Taste for Blood stacks. Other than that try not to overextend as Azmodan can create great pressure on a lane from far away. When a team fight happens on an objective look to stand back and harass with Globes and auto attacks then move in for a Burn the Weak that secures a kill.

Mid to Late game is more of the same honestly. Look to farm big waves when you get Black Pool so that you can harass from far away with hard hitting Globes. If an opportunity presents itself you may want to split push a lane. You should also take up the role of keeping minion wave pressure down if your lanes are pushed back. This serves a double purpose in protecting your structures and giving you a chance to farm some stacks. Your damage should be getting absurd late so focus on being there in time for team fights. If you spend all game farming and pushing but never help your team win the big fights then what was the point?

I hope you were able to learn something from my Azmodan build guide and enjoyed reading.
